“Wise Choice” 100 word Story

Greek

After taking a soda on a five-finger discount, Alicia departed the small grocery store to find the city frozen in mid-walk, mid-conversation, and even traffic remained immobile.

Terrified, she retreated backwards into the store finding the customers and employees also unmoving.

Behind the counter an elderly Greek man, also motionless, with a scowling expression, stared at the empty place where Alicia removed the soda she still held.

She carefully set the soda back in its place and activity returned to the city.

The stern Greek man smiled, “Wise choice. In another age, I would have let my wife punish you.”
